Chiropractic

Never in the history of chiropractic have chiropractors been able to provide the level of care that is available today. Many of the newer techniques are safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. Dr. Roberts cares about utilizing the most advanced techniques to give each of her patients the best possible chiropractic experience, whether this is their first time visiting a chiropractor or they have been under care for years.

Chiropractic care is health maintenance of the spinal column, discs, related nerves, and bone geometry without drugs or surgery. Chiropractors use their hands and sometimes instruments or drop tables to move the spinal vertebrae back to their proper position. A chiropractor will sometimes also adjust the joints of the arms, hands, legs and feet. Spinal adjustments may help relieve a whole spectrum of ailments including but not limited to:

  • back pain (neck, upper back, lower back)

  • headaches

  • migraines

  • Tendinitis

  • Joint pain

  • menstrual cramps

  • allergies

  • asthma

  • and digestive disorders

At Essentials for Wellness, the greatest effort is put forth to provide the highest standard of chiropractic care available.

Pediatric Chiropractic

Chiropractic care is crucial for your child’s growing spine. A properly functioning nervous system is the foundation for optimal development and overall wellness.

It is important to note that babies endure trauma even before they enter the world and early chiropractic care can correct problems before muscle memory and movement patterns are established.

The following are areas in which parents have seen improvement in their children from chiropractic care:

  • ear infections

  • latching problems

  • sleep

  • behavior

  • immune system function

  • ADD/ADHD

  • colic

  • bed-wetting

  • torticollis

  • allergies

  • asthma

  • constipation

Prenatal and Postnatal Chiropractic

During pregnancy, women’s bodies grow at an amazing rate, for this reason, regular chiropractic care is vital in the transition into motherhood. Achieving and maintaining proper alignment of the pelvis and sacrum will support the growth of the baby while eliminating undue stress (and pain) in the joints of the pregnant mother.

Dr. Roberts is certified in the Webster Technique.

The Webster Technique is oftentimes referred to as the “breech baby technique”, but this is actually not an accurate description. Chiropractors are not trained to turn babies, this is also not in their scope of practice (at least not in Texas). The Technique was actually designed to detect and correct pelvic misalignments/subluxations that are common during pregnancy (but also sometimes present in non-pregnant patients). By correcting said misalignments the supporting pelvic and uterine structures are restored. On the other hand, when the pelvis remains out of alignment during pregnancy, the resulting soft tissue tension and uterine constraint may prevent the baby from assuming an optimal fetal position.

One day you are pregnant and the next you are taking care of a tiny human (that makes it sound easy). Unfortunately your body does not just bounce back to your pre-pregnancy body. During pregnancy, women go through weight gain, posture changes and biomechanical adaptation. As a new mom you have new demands. Chiropractic can aid in the healing process and facilitate the transition to a healthy post-pregnancy body.
